Creativity... hmm...🤔

Everyone has his/her perspective on Creativity. In this session, we'll let you know ours. We will discuss the factors that affect creativity. Please do write your version of Creativity in the comments below.

Creativity is a product of our imagination. It may be material or abstract. We are able to create something because we have a piggy bank of experiences; we mold experiences in our minds and produce something that expresses our inner feelings. we will later talk about the independence of creativity from experiences.

Observation not only initiates creativity but also helps us to understand it. We are observers by nature and this observation often inclines towards judgment, which is the obstacle of creativity. Instead, observation should make way for understanding. Imagination also helps in understanding. For example, when we imagine ourselves as other characters, we tend to understand them more deeply.

Some say that the word 'Creativity' is very funny, as they believe no one creates but discovers and that creativity is nothing but 'creatively' imitating something. We make a stew of our experiences and imitate an idea with some improvements to it. So, creativity is some kind of imitation game.

Now coming back to the experience-creativity paradox. Let's do a thought experiment, imagine a 2-year-old baby drawing something which is extraordinary. People will argue if the child doesn't have a big inventory of experiences then how did it draw a masterpiece? The answer may be that another factor is also involved in creativity. Our sub-consciousness has a warehouse of experiences, unconsciously we do something which others perceive as creativity.

Versatility helps us to have multiple perspectives and makes our imagination more dynamic. It shapes our creativity in a positive way and broadens our horizons of thinking. Though some of us believe that humans don't have free will, that our will is very deterministic, but we can liberate our thinking process from external restrictors of creativity. Freedom of Thought should be respected, but not taken for granted(be careful with it).  Remember where there is a free flow of ideas, there resides an intelligent race. Ignorance is the biggest(exaggerating) enemy of creativity.

"The important thing is not to stop questioning. Curiosity has its own reason for existing. One cannot help but be in awe when he contemplates the mysteries of eternity, of life, of the marvelous structure of reality. It is enough if one tries merely to comprehend a little of his mystery every day."
- Albert Einstein

Our Creativity can never be expressed unless we are curious about something. So, curiosity has its own reason for existing, remember. Stay curious and keep learning. Creativity is not restricted to arts, it is in our daily life. You can use technology to create various things. These days many people think creativity is a hot topic, beyond the reach of classes. Students can only learn it outside the class because it is exactly opposite to what we teach in our classes. But this is all false. We can inculcate creativity inside the class as well. There is another misconception, we think that creativity is seen by the material thing a person produces. It is not compulsory, abstract things like ideas can also be creative. For instance, the concept of money is one of the most creative ideas ever produced by humans; It is such a great idea that almost everyone believes in it, though it is in our imagination. It has held the world for ages, without money it would be very difficult to organize human societies. Thinking outside the box in itself is creativity and we should encourage it.

Remember our explanation of creativity is not a commandment written on a stone. It still needs some editing and our favorite editor is our audience. We would like to collaborate with you guys to produce extraordinary material.
