Firstly, take a few minutes to derive meaning out of this picture on your own.

What do you see??
We would love to read your explanation in the comments below.

READ OUR THOUGHTS ON THIS PIECE OF ART:

It represents the food chain. You can see a cat dreaming.

But, what is it dreaming about? You can also notice a bird sitting on its nest.

The cat is fantasizing about its prey. Similarly, the bird is dreaming too. Now, what is the bird dreaming about? It's fantasizing about the various kinds of worms.

Thus it is a loop of dreams.

While the sketch can have various meanings. This is our shortest explanation yet. We thought of telling you how we make our sketches. First, we start with doodling. Then we observe where the sketch is heading. We redirect it towards an imaginable piece. This is its transition from a doodle to a sketch. Then we let it mature so that it makes some sense. We observe the sketch and come up with different symbolistic figures. Anyone can think of something as he/she wishes, for example, in the sketch above you may see Yoda instead of a cat. Then we observe some patterns in the figures and start to formulate a story. You don't need to be an artist to do it. As you can see our sketches are not so great. The point is to share ideas through your work. Your work need not be a sketch. Our sketches are usually black and white because we want the viewers to add in colors to the sketch according to their perspective. The Sketch is actually dull without its viewers adding color(meaning) to it. The viewer's art of thinking is more powerful than the art itself. It's an allegory to life. Life is meaningless as there is no destiny but we can create meaning in our meaningless existence to make it worth living.

This process not only lets us exercise our imagination and observation but also critical thinking as it helps us to recognize various patterns and to make sense of what we've got. We advise you to exercise it and enjoy the process. This isn't the only freestyle technique; there are various other styles in the market too. But it is what we came up with. However, we want you to discover your own way of doing it and let us know the technique in the comment section below.

PS- This type of activity can have negative effects too. For example, developing a habit to create false(& sometimes dangerous) conspiracy theories and equating correlation to causation.

  1. This is what Chatgpt has to say:

The sketch portrays a cat in a serene state of repose, with thought bubbles revealing its inner dream world, which centers on a bird. This bird, in turn, is depicted with its own thought bubbles, dreaming about worms. The image is a whimsical representation of the food chain, symbolizing the natural cycle of predator and prey in a lighthearted and accessible manner.

The simplicity of the lines and the absence of color in the original sketch invite the viewer to engage their imagination, filling in the details and hues to complete the story. The thought bubbles are a universally understood symbol for dreams or thoughts, making the concept immediately clear.

However, the playful nature of the sketch belies the more profound implications of the food chain it represents. It's a reminder of the interconnectedness of life forms and the often unseen relationships that bind the natural world together.

The artist's invitation to the viewer to add colors according to their perspective is an excellent interactive element, encouraging engagement and personal interpretation. It also opens a dialogue between the artist and the audience, allowing for a shared creative process.

The commentary on the creation process of the sketch serves as a valuable insight into the artistic method. The transition from a doodle to a sketch and finally to a fully realized piece of art is an evolution that involves observation, imagination, and storytelling.

While the artwork is charming, adding color can enhance its visual appeal and help to differentiate the layers of the dream sequence more clearly. A touch of color could bring warmth to the cat and a sense of vibrancy to the bird and worm, adding depth to the storytelling.

In essence, this sketch is a delightful visual puzzle, encouraging viewers to not only engage with the artwork but also to become a part of its creative journey. It's a testament to the power of art to foster creativity, collaboration, and critical thinking, all while providing a commentary on the natural world.
